Now though it seems EA is backing down on this.  Apparently they realized that nobody liked this plan of theirs.  So now where do I stand given that I supported the whole thing?  Well slow down a bit because I never actually supported it.  I understood where it came from, but neither supported nor hated it really.  But I do have to say that they’re being awfully reasonable about it so far.  I guess the income lost to used games is less than the income lost to people not buying the game in the first place because of the online pass.  The lesser of two evils and all that.

Makes me wonder though what will happen for games that already have online passes.  Will they revoke the system for those too?  Only time will tell…

I just found out that The One Piece Podcast has a kickstarter so that the podcast can head to Japan to film a video documentary series starting August 5th. As part of the series they will have live video events,  hope to have video interviews, video tours of Japan, and cultural insights.

I am super excited for these guys. After listening to their podcast and listening to how podcasts do not have to be lame and can actually be interesting really inspired me which resulted in my the creation of my own podcast. You know, the Ninja Pirate Dogcast!

It is an exciting development and I urge you to listen to their podcast and donate if you can. Every little bit helps and the rewards are fun.  If they reach their KickStarter goal of $7,000 (ATM they are at $4,637) everyone will win by being able to view the videos and interviews for free come September when they start to get released.

Kickstarter – The One Piece Podcast Goes to Japan

Not letting me download them until 24 hours after the last upload/download I can understand.  The developer has some reason (probably not a very good one sometimes) for not wanting you to copy your save, so Sony respects that to a degree while still letting you back them up in case of system failure.  However, did they really have to still exclude the protected saves from the bulk copy operations?  Bulk uploads, maybe.  They probably didn’t plan on people already having tons of saves that they’d like to backup without sticking every game into the system one by one to trigger the auto upload.  But bulk downloading is also blocked from selecting copy protected saves?  Why?  I would think that the main reason for wanting to do a bulk download is because you got a new system, and want all your saves back.  Instead of being quick and easy, you have to transfer all your copy protected saves one by one.

This could have been done better by simply indicating copy protected saves, and then if one is selected either not offer the option to copy it anywhere except the cloud/your HDD, or just wait until the user tries to copy to a restricted location, and then tell them that some saves won’t be copied.  Maybe list them right there.  It’s a nice option to have, but there’s room for improvement.

Plus this is the episode we introduced our new segment “Kevin in Japan!” I placed the Kevin in Japan (1:51) first because the audio for that was the best.

But this is my first jump into podcasting so I knew there would be some hiccups, I just did not expect them to all happen in the second episode. It really ruined my work flow from the first episode.
